From the Director – BLS Renovation on Schedule

A render of the HCA Florida West Hospital Community Room shows members of all ages using the new space.
May 1, 2025

Construction crews are hard at work repurposing the 4,200-square-foot area into a dual function space that will meet the needs of members based on feedback we’ve heard:

  • Half will be an expanded fitness area featuring duplicates of popular equipment pieces to alleviate some of our crowding.
  • Half will be a multipurpose program and community space to house intergenerational programs and events.

The current glass wall and doors will be removed to allow easy access to the area, with the wellness space to the left and community space to the right.

Expected completion of the work will be in mid-June, with exact open dates to be determined. We do expect the wellness half to be completed before the community half.

The expanded wellness area will feature these popular equipment items:

  • 4 new treadmills
  • 2 deadlift platforms with squat racks
  • An additional dumbbell area with weights up to 55 pounds
  • 2 personal studios
  • 4 plate-loaded machines, including a leg extension and a standing leg curl
  • 2 dual pulley cable machines

The HCA Florida West Hospital Community Room has been designed to be flexible and serve a variety of needs, including a summer teen program, health and wellness seminars and groups, a “hangout” for all ages, remote workspace, and meeting space for other special interest clubs and groups.

The room will feature comfortable furniture, workspaces, portable TVs for a variety of uses, and restrooms.
