From the Director – You Can Change a Life

What does the Y mean to you?
- Maybe it’s your lifeline to health, a place to get stronger and escape daily stress.
- Maybe it’s a haven for your kids, a place where they can be safe, learn new skills, and build confidence.
- Maybe it’s your community, a place where you can lean on your tribe for support.
What would happen if you didn’t have the Y?
Wait, don’t answer that question. We don’t want anyone to imagine life without the Y. Quite the opposite – our goal is to ensure that everyone can experience the Y.
That’s where you come in.
By giving to our Annual Campaign, you can do your part to ensure that every child, every young adult just starting out, every family facing tough times, every senior who needs physical activity and a friendly smile, and every person with disabilities who wants to play just like everyone else can experience the Y.
Last year, we provided more than $1.3 million in total mission impact in the two-county area by offering direct financial assistance with membership and programs, opening our facility to other nonprofits, delivering community education, and partnering with fellow nonprofits to help us move forward, together.
Each year, we invite members to do your part by giving to the campaign so that we can say yes to everyone who needs the Y. When you give, you change lives:
- For students in our afterschool literacy program who need help learning to read but also need someone to listen.
- For active older adults who need physical activity and social connection.
- For preschoolers who need to learn to be safe in and around water.
- For an adult with prediabetes who’s working hard to combat chronic disease.
- For teens who want to be independent but need a safe place to call their own.
- For people with Parkinson’s who need to battle the disease but also need hope.
