Twelve weeks after beginning construction at our Pullum Family YMCA, we’re excited about the progress we’ve made toward our long-awaited expansion.

We tackled our locker rooms first, modernizing and upgrading all the finishes and fixtures and providing members more space and privacy. Tile finishes, shower stall doors and cubbies, LED lighting, backlit mirrors, and wider lockers all contribute to a better user experience. The family restrooms have also been updated to match the main locker rooms.

This reimagined space has prompted overwhelmingly positive reactions. “Members have literally been in awe, calling the space gorgeous,” said Executive Director Autumn Navarro. “Our goal was to have this area done for swimmers during pool season.” The punchout list is nearly completed, as final details are being ironed out.

The modular building that will serve youth programs has been delivered and set up. We are waiting for power to be connected so we can move forward with the final stages of electrical, plumbing and sprinkler systems installation. Flooring will be the final step. We will publish an anticipated completion date as soon as we can. Afterschool and camp will be housed entirely in this building when it opens, but until then, summer camp will run inside the branch as usual. We are prepared to shift programming as soon as this building is ready.

The next phase of our expansion will be the addition of 2,000 square feet to the wellness floor. We will bump out the east wall of the building this fall – after the pool closes for the season – to provide this addition.

“This has been a long time coming, and I’m excited to see the movement in construction toward what we need,” Navarro said. “Our team is particularly excited to be able to offer more services and amenities to members and the community.”
