Exercising Together - New Class Format: Faith-Based Flow

Starting this month, we will offer a Faith-Based Yoga Flow Class every Friday morning at 10:45 am at the Community YMCA at Gulf Breeze. This is a Christian-based yoga class welcoming all levels. We will complete a series of deep stretching, breath work, and continuous slow flows paired with Christian music. This class is created and led by Emily, so I asked her a few questions...
How did you come up with the idea?
I came up with the idea because I use Christian music in my own personal yoga practice at home. It helps keep me rooted in my faith and stay close to God, even in hard times. I wanted to be able to merge the healing aspect of both Christianity and yoga together.
How do you set the intention for the class?
Intention is set in the beginning of class through breath work and guided meditation with core Christian values.
What makes this different from a regular yoga flow?
This is different from a regular yoga flow in that we are not simply emptying our mind and trying to stay in the now. We are emptying all negativity and things of this world, to then fill our mind and spirit with the teachings and influence of Christ.
What makes it faith based?
The faith-based aspect comes from the music, intention, and guided reminders throughout the flow.
What else should people know about this class?
Come as you are and experience yoga in a new light.
We offer many different yoga variations throughout the week. Practice your flow, breathwork and relaxation during a class.
