From the Director – A Place for Service

We all need a place where we feel welcome. Or someplace we’re at home. Someplace we can grow or even thrive. These places aren’t built by accident - to make all those things possible requires a bit of help. The effort that is put into making these possibilities is worth celebrating, no matter how small the effort itself might be. And when you’ve been the person investing just a little time or care to make it happen you know just how joyful and gratifying the feeling can be.
When you find just the place or program to invest in, there’s a sense of peace.
We’re not just a Y. We’re your Y, and the community’s Y. From the toddlers at play in KidZone to the child scoring a goal for the first time… The third grader who’s catching up learning to read and just heard they get to move on to fourth grade with their friends. The aunt who’s made the time in her schedule for two months so her nephews can learn how to be safe around the water. The senior who came in today partly because they wanted to be near others and see smiling faces. And still more scenarios than we have the space to type.
This is who we are as a Y, and if you peek behind the curtain it takes plenty of hands to make it possible. This is a place for service, and we would love to show you what your time can achieve.
Our Volunteer page is a resource that shows opportunities across the area. There are options for a variety of time commitments. Our volunteer application is just below, making the page a one-stop shop to see what might be a good fit and get in contact with our team.
If the examples we gave caught your eye then maybe that means KidZone Assistant, Y Reads Mentor, Water Watcher, or Greeter. Looking to get an idea of what volunteering with your Y is like without committing to multiple days? We’re looking for volunteers for the Corporate Cup Games, a one day event this month, which could be a great way to test the water and have a lot of fun.
Join your Y’s mission of service, and be part of strengthening our community.
